Beta 11 is Done!

It’s been quite a while since I posted an update. Too many things happened in the company, in my personal life and frankly talking about them was my least priority. Without further ado, I’m gonna talk about the most important events:

The iOS Offline version is out!

Yep, it was the major change I was talking about in my last few blog posts. We have been working hard for the last 3 months or so to bring the offline experience to the platform so users can access their data and interact with the app while they are offline as well. Today we release our first offline version (0.14.0) for iOS users.

It includes a lot of fundamental changes in the app architecture and brings offline experience to almost half of the sections we planned to make offline accessible.

You have no idea how complicated and difficult was to implement such a simple phenomenon in practice. I definitely will dedicate an entire post sometime in the future to explain the challenge we took as a fairly small team.

Now enough about the work stuff let’s get a bit personal.

My New Place

I’ve moved again. I know 😆. TBH, it was also one of the main reasons for the delay between releasing v0.13.x and 0.14.0. Moving is tough and a taxing process, especially in the time of COVID-pandemic. I survived though and I’m very glad that I made that decision. I love my new place. It’s quiet, beautiful, and spacious.

At last, I took a break

If you were following my updates you already know that I’m somehow a workaholic which I believe isn’t at all pleasant and I’m not proud of it. My position in the company and the responsibilities that come with it are there to blame for part of it.

I was delaying a vacation that I had been promising myself to take for almost a year and a half and it never seemed to be a good time. Especially ever since the pandemic hit the world.

In the process of moving to a new place I was absent for a few weeks and realized how badly I need to take some time off. Unfortunately, moving couldn’t be counted as it was not exactly a funny and relaxing experience.

Eventually, it was the first day of Nowruz (Persian New Year – March 21st ) that I decided to leave everything as it was and take a full week off to go on a short trip with a group of my old buddies. I didn’t even let an important meeting that was scheduled that week stop me making me postpone it one more time.

I do cheat a bit though 😆 I tested a feature of the platform in the real scenario while I was hanging out there. It was eye-opening and made us in the development team incorporate some changes and fix some bugs later on. I appreciate my buddies’ help especially my cousin Siavash. I’m grateful for the insights I gained from observing how he interacted and leveraged the feature I was testing during the trip.

To protect my ass from judgments I have to add not only testing the feature wasn’t at all interrupting, but the feature was also completely functional and was assisting us during the trip so the testing wasn’t any burden to anybody. 🤞🏻😁

Unfortunate events

There was a couple of unfortunate incidents between the last update and this one. I’m not discussing them any further. Just mentioned it so you know it wasn’t like everything was fine and awesome… Maybe one day I put my experience into words.

Upcoming possible interruption

I’m expecting an event that surely can interrupt the platform developing timeline. It’s not a certain thing but is unavoidable and very likely to happen throughout the next month. Certainly, the long-term result will compensate for any delay it may cause. Since It’s very personal, currently I’m not sure If I were comfortable sharing that publicly. But let’s see.

Till the next update, stay safe!
Cheers!
