Beta 7 is Done!

We are done with another giant beta phase! To me, It feels like it’s been a very long time since last time I posted a public update on the project here. The truth is I have published four private updates during this phase on the new features, changes, enhancements, and bug fixes of the project. The internal testers can view those updates.

Private Releases

We have released two new iOS updates and one new android update to the internal testers in the last phase. In each update, we addressed bugs and added missing supporting features that were reported to us.

We are gradually extending our circle of testers to non-internal trusty friends, so technically not all our testers are internal now. However, the number of external ones is low enough not to call it a private beta test.

Gradual Expansion Fuss

One might argue, what is it with all this gradual expansion fuss? There are many business and technical reasons to this, but to mention the most important ones, I have to point at our shortage in human/technical resources to maintain a possible sudden spike in our server loads, and the fact that there is no point to bring everyone in when they cannot leverage the most important feature of our platform in the corona-time.

However, since most issues don’t reveal themselves in a completely controlled environment, every now and then we add a few testers. This way, we will save ourselves a lot of embarrassment when we start the official beta testing. Moreover, as we go forward we carefully study the amount of load each new member put upon our infrastructure to be able to better anticipate the required resources for the coming private and public launch.

Besides the above remarkable advancements, and one great achievement, that I may announce it later, nothing exciting happened.

Finally, I would like to send my deepest condolences and 🖤 to anyone who has recently lost a loved one to COVID-19.

Till the next update, stay safe.
Cheers!
